What’s the inspiration behind your derby name?
I wanted to be a ballet dancer when I was younger, my Mam bought me skates instead …. the ones you adjust and strap to your shoes!!

What’s the inspiration behind your derby number?
5678 is often chanted before the start of a dance routine, in practice.

What was your funniest roller derby moment?
Apart from the ref’s banter, which is hilarious, and all the falling down episodes, it would have to be when I turned up to free-skate practice, after a work’s meeting, in a 50s vintage style dress because I forgot my leggings.

What was your proudest roller derby moment?
Getting the ‘Most Lethal Newcomer’ rosette at my first intraleague game and not getting any penalties at those two games either.

How did you first discover roller derby / what convinced you to join?
My friend got tickets to the game. I saw an opportunity to do fresh meat and thought it would be a fun way to get fit.

What was your best fresh meat moment?
Apart from passing… playing penalty Pokemon in my first scrim with refs. I think I literally got one of them all.

Favourite player to watch / learn from?
VanEssa “V-Diva” Sites from Gotham Roller Girls.

What have you learned from roller derby?
Patience, resilience and how to have fun.

Who are your roller derby heroes?
Treblemaker is great, she shares loads of tips on social media regarding the art of roller derby.

Which team do you look forward to playing / officiating the most and why?
In a scrim at the end of a Rainy City we played against the Bette Lynch Mob and it was so much fun. It would be great to play, NSO, or watch them in a game.

Most embarrassing moment at a bout / practice?
When Bucks Liz told me to watch the inside line in a practice scrim, I was like,’No I know better and I so have this’, so did not have it! That would be the jammer whizzing past at lightning speed then…

Three words to describe you?
Resilient, dependable, fancy.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved with their local team?
Go to fresh meat, make friends, have fun! Remember there are roles you can do if you don’t want to be a skater. The refs and Non-Skating-Officials (NSOs) have amazing jobs to do too and are vital for games to take place!

What other sports / training do you do when you’re not on eight wheels?
Pilates, roller dancing and gym fitness.
