We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded £6200 of #SportEngland This Girl Can Community Funding to support our members’ return to skates. Thank you for your support #SportEngland! 

Newcastle Roller Derby is run entirely by its skaters and volunteers. This funding will allow us to support our current league members as we return to skates, practice and play. 

On-skates confidence building activities for skaters, replacing equipment for skaters who have faced financial hardship and a roller disco to reconnect our community are currently in the works!

This week Newcastle Roller Derby restarts non-contact training for league members who feel ready. We are so excited to be taking this step carefully and cautiously. #LetsRoll

After updated UK government advice, Newcastle Roller Derby will be suspending all training sessions as of today, and postponing our NSI training course until further notice.

We understand this is a concerning time for everyone and appreciate your understanding.

Roller Derby brought us together, but the bond we share won’t be broken by being apart, off-skates, or away from training. Look after yourself and each other. #WeAreNewcastleRollerDerby 🖤💛

It is with great regret and disappointment Newcastle Roller Derby must announce that in light of the safety concerns surrounding Covid-19, we are postponing EuroClash until a later date. As safety is the primary concern, and after multiple dropouts for this reason, this is a clear sign to us that it is the responsible thing to do. (Our friends at Brussels and Oslo have already had to cancel due to travel bans in their countries.)

We can appreciate how frustrating this decision will be for some, and are grateful for everyone’s effort in working towards making this what would have been an amazing event. (And still will be down the road!)

As we start to move forward with the practical implications of postponing EuroClash, such as ticket refunds, etc., we will keep everyone posted. Please watch this space.
