More about the CaiRollers

CaiRollers is Egypt’s first roller derby team, established in September 2012. Made up of local and ex-pat women, their aim is to grow the team and empower women without drawing negative attention or attracting discrimination. In June 2013 the team held their first intra-league bout and are now looking for teams to play.

In a country where it can be rare to see a woman driving or showing her shoulders, and a pair of skates costs several times the average monthly wage, the CaiRollers have overcome more than their fair share of challenges with the help and support of other roller derby teams across the globe.

And that’s where Newcastle Roller Girls come in!

At Skate Like an Egyptian on Saturday 9 November we’ll be raising money to help the CaiRollers achieve their goals, so come along, splash out on a raffle ticket and help us support our derby sisters in Egypt.

Catch the Cairollers on Facebook, or visit their website.
